Neighbors Helping Neighbors Food Pantry is a "client choice pantry." Each customer is given a menu indicating the number of items they may choose, based on the size of their household. In that way, the customer goes home with food their family will eat, rather than what someone else has chosen for them.
There are many extras throughout the year thanks to the generous and thoughtful people who live in South Hadley. Quick breads made by Plains School children, pumpkins from a resident, and tooth brushes from a local dentist are some of the extras.
While waiting for the order to be filled, customers are in a congenial atmosphere with volunteers who genuinely care about them. Laughter abounds and customers leave with a smile and a "thank you".
